Fat Grafting

Fat Grafting

Fat grafting, also called autologous fat transfer, is emerging as a new procedure and an alternative to dermal fillers. Fat injections can be an effective way to reduce wrinkles, diminish acne scarring and regain a more youthful appearance. By injecting human fat harvested from your own body it will enhance facial fullness, fill deep creases, soften facial creases and wrinkles, plump lips and build up shallow contours.

FAT TRANSFER TO OTHER AREAS OF BODY:

In fat grafting, fat tissue is removed from other parts of your body -- usually your thighs, belly, and buttocks -- by liposuction. The tissue is then processed into liquid and injected into the breast area to recreate the breast.

Fat Transfer is a natural solution to restore subtle volume and shape, as well as rejuvenate certain areas of your body. Fat is taken from your body fat via Liposuction or Micro Lipo and transfered to areas of the body where volume is needed.

Fat Transfer to the Face and Hands

Our face and hands are the first things people see and present a significant challenge for anyone trying to prevent fat loss which can leave our faces looking sunken and aged, while our hands look brittle with protruding veins, bones and tendons. Until recently, dermal fillers presented a temporary fix but with Fat Transfer procedures booming and offering patients the permanent results they've been looking we are spending more and more time treating patients with long-lasting results.

Ageing has its effects on everyone’s skin, and unfortunately due to nature’s way of tell us that we are advancing in years, skin, all over your body, can lose its volume and become loose and relaxed. Medical and scientific advancements have paved the way for natural alternatives to synthetic fillers and implant procedures – our Doctor’s have named this alternative the ‘Organic Facelift’.

When compared to fillers and implants, the results of Fat Grafting last 10 times longer – up to 10 years, and because the source of the ‘organic filler’ is already in your body, it is perfectly well tolerated in the long term.

How do I prepare for a fat injection?

  • Fat injection is a more extensive procedure than the use of other cosmetic injectable fillers because liposuction techniques are involved. These techniques are used to extract the fat prior to injection.
  • While fat injection is a non-surgical procedure that is usually completed with local anesthesia, it may require local anesthesia with sedation if larger amounts of fat are being collected through liposuction methods.

How is fat injection performed?

  • Fat injection procedures are generally performed on an outpatient basis using local anesthesia.
  •   The procedure usually takes 30 minutes to an hour, or more, depending on the patient, the volume to be injected, and additional procedures that are being completed at the same time.
  • The fat is withdrawn from certain areas of the body (typically the abdomen or hips), either by using a needle or through techniques similar to those used during liposuction using a special suction cannula). Once enough fat is taken from the donor area, it is then purified through the use of a centrifuge, which spins the fat and removes impurities.
  • The fat is then injected into areas needing augmentation through an injection needle that is usually passed in and out of the specific areas multiple times. This creates a ‘grid’ of threads of fat graft.

Advantages of Fat Grafting and Fat Transfers

  • More economical than synthetic fillers in the long-term.
  • Not only does the Fat Graft result in increased subtle volume and ‘plumpness’, but also improved skin texture and quality due to the stem cells contained in the fat.
  • The results can bring back 5-10 years on the treated areas.
  • Natural-looking results
  • Minimal downtime - return home the same day and just a couple of days downtime for many of the procedures
  • Only local anaesthetic is necessary
  • Can be performed in combination with any of our full VASER Liposuction or Micro Lipo treatments

Alternative to Dermal Fillers

Using your own fat to smooth out wrinkles and plump up the skin with our Fat Transfer procedures is a more natural and now increasingly popular alternative to dermal fillers. Fat Transfer procedures can not only smooth out wrinkles and lines but can add volume to sunken cheeks or thinning lips, with an indirect boosting effect on the texture and tone of the skin. As women and men seek out the latest in cosmetic treatments, more and more patients are choosing

Fat Transfer procedures as their treatment of choice over temporary dermal fillers. With one procedure, you remove the need for all those regular top-ups, leaving you to enjoy superior and natural-looking results for many years. Furthermore the stem cell technology involved – stem cells are naturally present in fat – boosts the rejuvenating effect of the treatment, helping you to look glowing and more even in tone.
