VAGINAL TIGHTENING Also Known as VAGINOPLASTY

Surgical procedure to tighten the vaginal canal and surrounding tissues, often used for women experiencing significant vaginal laxity.

Following delivery of a baby the vagina and surrounding tissue and muscles become stretched. After delivery the vagina may return to a more ‘normal’ size, but it often fails to return to its prepregnancy diameter due to

• More vaginal deliveries which cause the condition to worsen.
• Episiotomy incision which is given in normal deliveries can extend deep and cause this condition.
• Women complain of decreased sensation and sexual satisfaction during intercourse.

SURGERY

• It is performed under spinal anesthesia as an outpatient basis.
• The surgery tightens the vagina and surrounding tissue yielding a vaginal tightness similar to before the patient had children.
• Patients can go home the same day but abstinence is required for at least 3 weeks post surgery.

Labiaplasty:

Surgical procedure to reshape the labia (inner or outer lips of the vulva).  

Labiaplasty is a cosmetic surgery in women to make the labia majora and/or labia minora to look beautiful, normal in size and symmetrical on both sides. Often in many women the labia are very large on both or one side. Most commonly one or both lips of labia minora may get elongated and ‘fan’ shaped and may project out of the labia majora. This makes them unsightly and cosmetically unacceptable. It also becomes a source of embarrassment with their sexual partner and causes loss of self-esteem. Labiaplasty can restore them to their normal cosmetic status.

REASON FOR LABIA GETTING OUT OF SHAPE

Most often some women are born with asymmetrical and big labia on one or both sides. Some others acquire this after childbirths or due to ageing.

Sometimes, large labia can cause chronic irritation and infection in the genital areas.
